Criminal History and Green Card
I am an American citizen, my husband as Israeli citizen. Our children are also American citizens. We are applying for a green card and my husband has one single crime on his record. My question is: does the consulate look at his crime according to the US law, or according to Israeli law. The crime occurred here in Israel.
Dear Meredith, In fact, they do compare the type of offense in both countries, so they can see what the American law says about the offense if it would have been committed there. If under American law it is an offense with moral turpitude, then there may arise problems with the eligibility of your husband to the green card.
We are also being asked for A Certificate of disposition... what is the equivalent here?
